Game Aware Billionaire?

This from a piece about the rise and fall of Electric Vehicles.  But

In a 2008 appearance on Charlie Rose, the host asked Warren Buffett: “Should wise people should have known better” during the financial crisis? Buffett responded:

“People always should know better. People don’t get — they don’t get smarter about things that get as basic as greed. You can’t stand to see your neighbor getting rich. You know you’re smarter than he is and he’s doing these things and he’s getting rich. And your spouse is getting unhappy with you because you aren’t doing. Pretty soon, you start doing it.

So you get what I call the natural progression, the three I’s, the innovators, the imitators and the idiots. Everybody just kind of goes along and you look kind of silly if you disagree. You can have these crazy Internet valuations in the late 1990’s, but they proved themselves out in the market. I mean, the next day, they were selling for more than they were the day before. And people said, you’re crazy if you don’t get in on this. It’s very human.”

^The piece is focused on why people do dumb stuff, mass hysteria, mob buying, etc.  Interesting read generally speaking.

Munger and W. Beezy are known to not only be shrewd investors and readers of 10-K’s, looking for competitive advantages – but they are Students of the Game.  Or rather, they use mental models to analyze the world, and take advantages of discrepancies.

Looking at my own finances, I do okay for myself, but this ain’t a stock tips kinda blog.  Let’s focus on the good stuff.

You can’t stand to see your neighbor getting rich. You know you’re smarter than he is and he’s doing these things and he’s getting rich. And your spouse is getting unhappy with you because you aren’t doing. Pretty soon, you start doing it.

Random Dude – What?  Is Warren secretly bankrolling the Red Pill Movement?  He spinning plates?  What’s is 1RM on the Bench Press?

Archie – Slow your roll their Poverty P!

His understanding of the human mind, and in particular the female mind has allowed him to stack G’s.  Did he take those powers and apply them to the liability field of females?

Not sure, I’m assuming The Don of Omaha does his dirt on the low. But we do know that his PIMP HAND WAS STRONG.

While Will Smith, Dr. Dre, and Jeff Bezos getting have their “business all in the street” and getting run for their pockets, meanwhile Warren B got that Betty White and keeping his Benjamin’s Green.

  1. @Archie

The English upper classes have traditionally not divorced.

The men get “a mistress in a flat in the city” and the wives bang the stable boy.

Divorce is too expensive for really wealthy men to indulge in.

    The old joke:

Him: darling what would you like for Xmas, a Ferrari, an apartment then the city perhaps?

Her: Actually I’d like a divorce

Him: Damn. I wasn’t thinking of spending THAT type on money.

  2. I wanna stack Gs, but not at the extent of learning how to deal with women.

Day in and day out, the C-suite ladder looking more and more appealing, just rock with the ladies you meet at charity events, galas, fundraisers, and remove yourself from playtime when you get a little too excited.

    I know this a family-friendly blog 😉
